Angie Hanna

Hanna, Angie

Occupational Therapist

amhanna@seattleschools.org

I am the Occupational Therapist at Coe, Lawton, and Queen Anne Elementary Schools. I am a Seattle native. I grew up in Issaquah and received my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. I went on to earn my Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Boston University in 2002 and worked at Mercer Island Public Schools before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom for over a decade. I have lived on Queen Anne for 16 years and love this community! I am passionate about providing our students with the tools they need to be successful in the classroom. I enjoy spending time with my son, walking the Crown of Queen Anne, reading, abstract painting, and relaxing with my two cats, Tony and Nessa.

Kilty Keaton

3rd Grade Teacher

kikeaton@seattleschools.org

I'm grateful to be part of our wonderful Coe-mmunity! I grew up in the South Puget Sound and received my BA and MAT from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, where I also played basketball (go Loggers!) I have spent almost two decades teaching students in grades three through five and have been a member of the Coe team since 2018. Helping students to feel valued, love learning, think critically, and develop their passions makes teaching such a joy for me. When I'm not at school, you can find me outside hiking, mountain biking, wing foiling, or reading a good book. I also love cheering on the Seattle Storm and eating ice cream.

Having taught for over 20 years in San Francisco and Seattle, I am very excited to be part of the 3rd grade team at Coe. I have a Master’s degree in Teaching, with a focus on Environmental Education. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. When I'm not teaching, I love playing tennis, sewing costumes, and going to the beach with my boys.

Sophia Mandell

Mandell, Sophia

2nd Grade Teacher

skmandell@seattleschools.org

I am thrilled to be part of the Coe community! I began teaching in 2021 and have had the opportunity to work at several schools within Seattle Public Schools, most recently at Queen Anne Elementary. Growing up in Seattle and attending SPS from K–12 (Salmon Bay and Nathan Hale), it has always been a dream of mine to return as a teacher.

I earned my BA in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Middle Level Mathematics from Washington State University (double go Cougs!). After completing my student teaching in the unique year of 2020, I went on to earn my M.Ed. in Instructional Design. My passion for teaching is deeply rooted in empowering students to think critically about the world around them.

Outside the classroom, you can usually find me walking my two dogs, playing board games (a little competitively!), reading, camping, golfing with my partner Drew, cheering on Seattle and WSU sports teams, and spending time with family and friends.

Katie May

May, Katherine

Assistant Principal

kjmay1@seattleschools.org

For the past eleven years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Principal at Thurgood Marshall Elementary—a Title I and Highly Capable Pathway school with a beautifully diverse community. Our school included several intensive special education programs, a large multilingual student population, and a thriving HC cohort. Before that, I was Principal and Director of Student Services at the Seattle Hebrew Academy, and I began my career as a school counselor in the Federal Way School District. Each of these roles has shaped my approach as an educator, and I’m excited to bring that experience to Coe as we continue to grow together.

I have been teaching at Coe since 2010. I attended Western Washington University where I studied Special and Elementary Education. I have a Masters in Literacy from SPU. I live in the Broadview neighborhood of Seattle with my husband Conor, daughter Sloane, son Silas, two cats, and a dog. My favorite part about teaching is seeing students set goals and celebrate their success as learners. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, traveling, biking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

My name is Steven McGregor and I'm happy to be teaching second grade at Coe!  I am a Northwest native who grew up in Renton, Washington. I attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, where in 1999 I received my B.A. in Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy. After graduating and moving back to Seattle, I worked for several years in non-profit healthcare administration. In 2007, I decided to change course in my career and I enrolled in the master's program at Antioch University. I earned a Master of Education degree in 2008.   Prior to teaching first and second grades at Coe, I taught kindergarten for four years at Schmitz Park in West Seattle. I currently live in Magnolia with my husband and our three Portuguese Water Dogs, Kona, Indie, and London.

Instructional Assistant

vamckeeverhu@seattleschools.org

I am so happy to be at Coe. I first came to Coe in 2009 when my oldest child was in kindergarten. Since then all three of my children have gone though and graduated from Coe.  While my youngest was at Coe I began working as a tutor and later became an Instructional Assistant. I love working with students in K - 5th grade, and am incredibly lucky to work with an amazing staff and administration here at Coe. I am originally from San Francisco but have lived in Seattle for 16 years and love the Pacific Northwest. When I am not working I love spending time with my family and my two dogs.

Kieran Mehta

Mehta, Kieran

Kindergarten Teacher

kjmehta@seattleschools.org

My name is Kieran Mehta, lots of students call me Ms. M, and I am excited to be a part of the Coe community for my fourth year of teaching at Seattle Public Schools.

After growing up in Minnesota, I moved to Seattle for the University of Washington where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies and my Master’s in Teaching. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in many different elementary schools across Seattle and  I am really excited to grow as a teacher with the Coe community and learn from the very experienced educators at this school.

Outside of school, I love to hang out with my partner, do various outdoor activities like climbing, hiking, and camping, and I love to read and paint.
