2021-22 Principal Welcome Letter
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year!
We are delighted to welcome your wonderful children back into the school building for full-time in person learning this fall. As your child’s first and lifelong teacher, we invite you to partner with us along this year’s exciting educational journey.
Through strong parent-school engagement, Coe aims to cultivate a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school community where every student has a path to achieve their highest potential and every parent feels authentically connected. We welcome your involvement, your questions, your perspectives, your advocacy, and your volunteer time.
Coe Staff are committed to creating an optimal learning environment each day where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. We achieve this by focusing our efforts on student well-being, setting high academic and behavioral expectations matched with high levels of support, and providing rich and responsive instruction and learning experiences. Your partnership is central to this important work for our students.
We recognize our families and students have many questions and feelings about what this school year will look like, particularly related to student safety and the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic. Student, staff, and community safety will continue to be our staff’s top priority as we fully re-open Coe.
Regular district and school communications will provide you with information about health and safety protocols and supports all Seattle schools will implement this year.
Coe Elementary School carries a proud tradition of academic excellence, strong parent engagement, and community pride. We look forward to continuing and strengthening this tradition through our partnership this year. We recognize that as a learning community and educational institution, there is always room to grow. Along with our parent partners we will lean into continued improvement with a growth-mindset and student-centeredness this year.
Together, we can ensure each of our students receive a solid academic foundation, develop a love of learning, and acquire a sense of responsibility for our school, our community, and our world. We are excited to engage with you to nurture curious, thoughtful, responsible, and resilient young people.
Let the fun-filled, learning-filled 2021-22 school year begin!
With Cougar Pride,
Lindsey Backstrom, Principal
