To nurture our children in caring behavior and service endeavors that provide an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop into compassionate citizens of today’s world.
What is Coe Cares all about – and how do I get involved? Coe Elementary has a big heart. Over the years, we have been involved with many activities that have impacted the lives of people far and near. Coe Cares is a way to coordinate these efforts under one umbrella, so we can evaluate the work that we are doing and attempt to achieve some balance in our giving as we, children and adults, develop our compassion and reach to serve those in need.
Here is a quick list of some of the projects that Coe has taken on or would like to take on. In order for this work to continue we need people like you to step forward and be part of the organizing effort:
Coe Book Drive : Coordinate book drives so we can pass on books that are in excellent condition to schools with fewer resources.
Afghanistan Sister School: Fundraising and culture sharing with our sister school in Afghanistan. We began our Journey with an Afghan School 9 years ago, and continue to build bridges of understanding between Afghans and Americans.
Popcorn Sales: Once a month popcorn sales generates a fund to use at the school Counselor’s discretion to aid families in need with supplies such as winter clothing and school supplies.
Food Drive: Coe Cares helps to support the annual Coe Community Food Drive and plans educational events concerning food security in our community.
Back Pack Program: Volunteers pick up weekly bags of food, donated by the Ballard Food Bank and assembled by the Queen Anne Helpline, to provide extra food for families over the weekend.
Student Council Community Service Projects: Each year students decide what the projects will be. In the past, we have supported Seattle Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s Hospital and Nickels for New Jersey (in response to the hurricane.)
It is our goal to make all of these programs as kid focused and kid driven as possible. Through Coe Cares, together we can help our children grow into compassionate and caring adults, making a difference one donation at a time.
